Practically impossible to live car free & reduce emissions outside of London. Price of trains, even for short journeys within the region, is crazy compared to the equiv by car. Not to mention delays & overcrowded carriages. I dream of a world where polluting cars aren’t needed to pop to town

Not too pleased Waterstones is opening 10 stores. More people reading is great. Not buying from Amazon? Even better. But Waterstones is a huge chain. James Daunt owns other huge book shop chains including Foyles / Blackwells. I’d be much happier to hear that 10 more indie bookshops have opened.
Stopped at the Angel of the North. Ali mentioned having never been. Shocking. Good fast car charger here and decent enough coffee van. Not a bad stop. Feeling more cultured. And tanned.
